How I Remastered GTA Vice City With Mods

GTA Vice City has been one of the most popular games since its release in 2002. But as years go by, even this masterpiece starts to show its age. That’s why I decided to take matters into my own hands and remaster GTA VC using various mods that breathe new life into this legendary title. In this article, I’ll walk you through how I achieved this remaster, highlighting the key mod categories: graphics, vehicles, and scripts.

Why Modding GTA Vice City?

Mods have always been the backbone of keeping games like GTA VC fresh. With mods, you can tweak the game’s visuals, add new content, and push its boundaries beyond what was initially possible. As we hit the 22nd anniversary of GTA VC, I thought it was the perfect time to remaster it using the incredible variety of mods available today.

Step 1: Graphics Mods – Enhancing the Visual Experience

The first step in my remaster was overhauling the graphics. Although GTA 5’s visuals were groundbreaking in 2002, newer titles have raised the bar. To catch up, I added several key graphics mods that enhanced textures, lighting, weather effects, and overall atmosphere.

Step 2: Vehicle Mods – Driving in Style

One of the best aspects of GTA VC is its open-world driving experience, so I couldn’t miss out on upgrading the vehicles. Vanilla cars are great, but adding real-world vehicles brought a fresh perspective to the game.

Real Car Mods: I replaced many in-game cars with real-life counterparts, such as Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and classic muscle cars. This not only improved the visual appeal but also gave driving a new sense of realism.

Step 3: Script Mods – Adding New Features

Graphics and vehicles are essential, but script mods are where the magic happens. These mods helped me introduce new mechanics, gameplay features, and overall quality-of-life improvements.

  • Grinch Trainer: This versatile mod allows you to spawn vehicles, teleport, change character models, and activate various cheats. It was a crucial part of customizing my experience during the remastering process.
  • Cleo Trainer: Another powerful tool that expands on the in-game options. It includes more customization features for characters, better control over the game’s time and weather, and fine-tuning of camera settings.
  • New Gameplay Mods: I added mods like the Gang and Turf mod, which brings back the gang war mechanics from GTA: San Andreas, and a Zombie Apocalypse mod, completely changing how you can play the game by adding survival elements. You can access all mods from here
