How To Remaster GTA Vice City Next Gen With Mods

GTA Vice City is one of the most iconic games in the Grand Theft Auto series, and even after two decades, fans still love exploring the neon-lit streets of Vice City. But what if we could take this classic experience and bring it into the modern era? Just the thing I do with GTA Vice City Next Gen Edition, remade using the original GTA 4 RAGE engine, and added more than enough quality mods to restore a newer fresh next-gen aspect and look in it.

Graphics and Visual Improvements:

I used the 3D Color Timecycle mod to bring Vice City to life with a more realistic and immersive atmosphere. It really makes a big difference in lighting, shadows, and overall color balance in the game. It really brings sunsets, neon signs, and reflections to life in a cinematic way.
In addition, I installed the Proper Lights Mod, which increases the efficacy of streetlights, headlights on the cars, and city lights across the city. While Vice City now feels much more alive at night, improved illumination attunes the feel with that of an 80’s crime-filled metropolis.

Remastered Vehicles & Classic Sounds

Replacing old car models with 80s vehicles that fit the time period but look more detailed and polished will keep up the nostalgic charm of the game while adding to its realism. It gives a feel of authenticity about the city, and cruising through the streets will be more immersive.
For weapons, I restored the original weapon sounds and weapon icons from Vice City so that the classic gunplay experience is not altered. Now when you shoot a weapon, it sounds precisely as you remember from the original game.

One of the most interesting additions is the Taxi Reborn mod, which allows players to whistle at a taxi to take a ride. This adds a new level of interactivity, making the city feel more dynamic.
I also adjusted the camera angle to a centered position, providing a smoother, more modern third-person perspective that makes aiming and driving feel more natural.

Bringing Back the Classic Feel
The major charm of Vice City was its weapons, so I made sure to restore them back to their original essence. A mod restores the original weapon sounds, making every gunshot feel as nostalgic as when you first played the game. I also restored the original weapon icons, so all of the stuff in the HUD is true to the classic look of Vice City.
